Our men’s basketball brings Shoemaker Center alive through intense, fast-breaking teamwork. Basketball is not confined just to the court, either. The Shoemaker Center is considered one of the premier venues among regional campuses in the state with seating for 2,400 spectators.
Here, you will play under newer, brighter lights on a state-of-the art floor embedded with the Ohio University logo. Shoemaker Center’s roof was recently replaced along with upgrades to heating and air-conditioning. Being part of a team also means being part of a community. In 2014, Ohio University Chillicothe ceremonially retired the #42 jersey of Ohio University Chillicothe student-athlete Larry Cox. Officer Cox graduated from Ohio University Chillicothe with a degree in Law Enforcement Technology, served as the D.A.R.E. Officer for Chillicothe City Schools, and was recognized by President George Bush at the National Peace Officers Memorial Service. Officer Cox was a Chillicothe Campus Distinguished Alumnus and the 2011 Community Hero Award Recipient.
